La Cascade Poolside Bar & Grill - Gourmet sandwiches, salads, and light entrees are served daily by the hotel pool. Special late-afternoon and weekend breakfast menus are also offered. A mid-afternoon Happy Hour draws a daily crowd for margaritas and mojitos. The 19th Hole Sports Bar & Grill - Breakfast, lunch, late-afternoon snacks, and beverages are all offered at this casual sports bar overlooking the golf course. The Biltmore Bar - Adjacent to Le Palme d'Or, this wood-paneled bar serves signature cocktails in a club-like setting. Live jazz can be heard on Friday and Saturday nights. The Corkscrew Bar - Guests can enjoy wines by the glass, bar snacks, and tapas plates at this horseshoe-shaped bar next to the 1200 restaurant. Boules Bar - Set beside a 23-foot waterfall overlooking the pool, this bar specializes in frozen cocktails and fruit- and vegetable-based concoctions. It also offers front-row seats to the hotel's petanque court, where guests are invited to try their hand at the classic European lawn-bowling game. The hotel also offers Afternoon Tea, which is served weekdays in the lobby, accompanied by live piano music.

AMENITIES & SERVICES

Opened in 1926, this 280-room hotel is a monument of Mediterranean Revival architecture, instantly identifiable by its red-tiled roofs, Moorish arches, and 15-story tower, which is a replica of the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Noted for its hand-painted ceilings, Italian marble floors, and open-air courtyard with fountains, the hotel was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1996. The hotel is comprised of several wings arrayed around a courtyard and a large outdoor pool. The Biltmore's classic blend of Mediterranean design and Jazz-Age style is echoed in four restaurants, three bars, a shopping arcade, and an adjacent conference center. The hotel itself boasts 34 meeting rooms and two ballrooms that have been restored to their original grandeur. The adjacent Conference Center of the Americas opened in 2000 with another 17 meeting spaces and state-of-the-art business services. In September 2002, the hotel added a spa to its already extensive list of amenities—which include 10 tennis courts and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Donald Ross. Located near the pool, The Spa at The Biltmore offers a soothing retreat as well as a variety of massages, body wraps, and aromatherapy treatments. Facials, manicures, and hair care are also available. Finally, for guests interested in the history of the hotel (which, in its heyday, hosted the likes of Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby, various Vanderbilts, and British royalty; and, more recently, Bill Clinton), complimentary tours are held every Sunday afternoon. For those who prefer their history without hiking, storytelling sessions are held by the fireplace in the main lobby on Thursday evenings.

The centerpiece of the Biltmore is its huge outdoor pool, which was originally designed to host aquatic shows, water-polo games, and diving demonstrations. At 700,000 gallons and 23,000 square feet, it is reportedly the largest hotel swimming pool in the continental United States. Today, it's surrounded by private cabanas, Canary palms, and bougainvillea. The hotel also features an 18-hole, par-71 championship golf course designed by Donald Ross. Hotel guests enjoy preferred tee times and discounted greens fees, while an on-site golf academy offers instruction with video-training equipment. Tennis players have use of 10 lighted courts and instructors for private lessons. The hotel’s fitness center offers 15,000 square feet of exercise space, including separate rooms for free weights, cardiovascular machines, and strength-training equipment. More than 40 exercise classes are offered each week, including Pilates, yoga, and body sculpting. Fitness assessments and personal trainers are available by appointment. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.
